Ophthalmology

We see active duty, dependents and retirees. Appointments are available for non-enrollees on a space available basis. Patients of all ages are evaluated on an emergent basis; however, restrictions apply to routine pediatric patients. All patients are required to have a referral. Initial appointments are scheduled by the appointment center. Follow up appointments are scheduled by the appointment center or clinic staff. Ophthalmology offers the full range of general ophthalmic services, including:

  • Cataract removal with implantation of intraocular lens
  • Blepharoplasty for excessive skin, or dermatochalasis, affecting peripheral vision
  • Select oculoplastic procedures including nasolacrimal duct probing, ptosis repair, lid laxity repair
  • Pterygium removal
  • Intravitreal anti-vascular endothelial growth factor, or VEGF, injections for macular degeneration and edema, and diabetic retinopathy
  • Laser treatment for glaucoma, including iridotomy and trabeculoplasty
  • Laser treatment to the retina for tears, holes, and diabetic retinopathy
  • Yag capsulotomy
  • Select strabismus surgery
  • Temporal artery biopsy
  • Removal of eyelid lesions, to include chalazion excision, cyst removal and eyelid biopsy
